Stepping up to Husk in downtown Charleston feels like a grand affair. That’s because the restaurant, with Chef Sean Brock at the helm, is located in a gorgeous mansion in the center of the historic district that lights up beautifully once dusk descends on this charming town. As one diner noted, it “feels like you’re enjoying a meal in a Southern family’s home.”
Let the festivities begin with one of Husk’s many cocktails and punches, which most definitely pack a punch. Sip old classics, perfectly fitting for the atmospheres, or inventive modern drinks.
The same could be said for the food, which uses local ingredients to craft both classic Southern dishes, such as a creamy shrimp and grits in a tomato broth, as well as more modern ones, like crunchy lettuce wraps, which are perfect dish to share. As for the entrees, plan on delighting in a plethora of seafood dishes made with fish right off the boat. Of course, for the carnivores out there, there’s plenty to choose from too, such as pork belly, which is an explosion of flavors.
The experience here is only made better by the incredibly attentive Husk wait staff, and not only because they know the menu backwards and forwards. They prove, as any good Charleston restaurant should, that Southern hospitality really is a thing.
