Friday, Walmart announced through a press release that they had one of their best opening days of their Black Friday sales; this year, more customers took advantage of the online sales and Walmart.com had almost 400 million page views on Thanksgiving day. Over 5 million people were in a Walmart store for the One Hour Guarantee and 10 million were in the stores from 6-10 p.m. Last year, Walmart offered three items on The One Hour Guarantee and this year expanded the number of items to 21.
Top sellers at Walmart on Thanksgiving day were: big screen televisions, the iPad mini, laptops, XBOX ONE, PS4 and Call of Duty Ghosts, according to the Walmart press release. Other big sellers at Walmart on Thanksgiving day were: towels, tablets, bicycles and dolls.
Walmart (and almost all other retailers) will continue their Black Friday 2013 sales through the weekend. Many begin their Cyber Monday sales today or tomorrow, and some retailers like Amazon, Target and Walmart have announced that those sales will take place all next week. This week, Apple sent out an email to customers that read: “This Friday is the one-day Apple shopping event.” The ad went on to show that you can shop in the store, online or from your iPad and that free shipping is available online for purchases over $50. Dell emailed customers about the Black Friday deals available on their website that includes desktops, laptops and electronics. The Dell Black Friday sale will begin at 4 p.m. online on Thanksgiving day. Customers can also sign to receive email updates on Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale items at Dell.com. Amazon kicked off their pre-Black Friday sale by announcing that a new product will be on sale every 10 minutes; the Amazon pre-Black Friday sale will continue through Black Friday. Many of the items are TVs, cameras, video games, and electronics and some are big ticket items. Customers don’t know when those items will be added.
