Two women shot a twerking video on subway tracks in New York City, o.Canada.com reported Saturday. The story of twerking in on tracks when twerkers are faced with the danger of an oncoming train is so outrageous that is is easy to see how it is attracting our neighbors to the north. The YouTube video posted on the left has gone viral, generating more than a quarter million hits by Saturday afternoon.
The New York Daily news confirmed the story earlier this week but in the paper’s story they noted that it is unclear which station it was on when it happened. You can view the video for yourself on the left.
The phenomena of twerking first caught on big this year and it has sparked a number of twearking dance YouTube videos, some real and some fake. Although there is no reason to believe the video on the left is fake, clearly it is very dangerous and is not something any responsible person would would want to encourage. The subway twerkers face not only the danger of the oncoming trains, but they are risking being electrocuted by the third live rail.
In the video, the women clearly don’t want to be recognized. The giggle and hide their face from the man who is making a video of them.
The Daily News story sparked a number of comments from outraged readers.
Several readers commented on the obvious danger of twerking on subway tracks. One wrote, “It seems that they are at the mouth of the station facing the direction of the train’s approach to the station. It would be a shock if they didn’t have a count down clock at each station and the train approached them from behind.”
Another mentioned the danger of the third rai, “I would be more worried about the third rail. Just trip the wrong way and a life would be snuffed out in an instant.”
One reader wa quick to put out this obvious but important warning: “A train can come in any direction on any track at any time. Don’t play.”
