Back again with this week’s “Things to Do” article for Missoula. Sorry it’s a day late but yesterday was just too hectic. After six weeks of rehearsal, the Missoula Community Theatre’s production of Spamalot opened last night to an incredibly packed house, followed by an impromptu cast party at The Depot. Make sure you take the time to check out this show, and not just because I’m in it! Performances run at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The show closes on November 17.
Don’t forget to honor our Vets on Monday as we celebrate Veterans Day – thank a Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine for their service.
Here are a few suggestions of things to do this weekend and next week. Our very own University of Montana Grizzlies travel to South Dakota to play a non-league game at 12 p.m. In addition, don’t miss all the great NFL action this weekend. Catch all the college, NFL and NBA action at my favorite sports bar, Hooters.
Reading is always a great escape, and we have four great local bookstores: Fact & Fiction, located at 200 N. Higgins and in the University Center; The Book Exchange, located at 2335 Brooks Street; Shakespere & Co. Booksellers, located at 1035 S. Third Street W and Bird’s Nest Books, located at 217 N. Higgins. Take some time and enjoy these jewels of Missoula, where you can catch up on some great reads and do some shopping. On Tuesday, Patrick Todd will read from his collection Songs for Lenny’s Trumpet at Shakespeare and Co. at 7 p.m. Then on Wednesday, Robert Lee will read selected portions of his new poetry collection, Black Bear Holds a Hole in His Paw at Shakespeare and Co. at 7 p.m.
