Greetings again my friends from my fasting for 3 days so I can eat my self into a disgraceful oblivion this Thanksgiving corner of the world. I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news but I think winter weather is REALLY here….REALLY! I know I speak for many when I say, TIRED OF IT ALREADY! !
With that being said, this is the weekend all shopping junkies look forward to all year long. You can accuse me of not being in the spirit of the season but standing in line for 4 hours in the dark and cold to get a good deal is just not the way I want to kick off my holiday season. If you dig it then by all means, as they say, do it..
For those who “claim” there is never anything to do around here obviously felt pretty embarrassed a few days ago because that was not this case this past weekend. It all started on Thursday and it continued on until Sunday morning. Live music not only at your “normal” venues but GILBERT’S Music and the ONLY record store in the area GROAMYS played host to a matinee show at the W Robb Ave music one stop for all those who either would be unable to go to the show at The Avalon later that night or who are under the legal bar age. How cool is that. Just imagine if everybody who had the ability to help promote the local scene would do something like that? WOW! !!
If you are one of the lucky ones who scored a 4 day weekend I’ve got a great way to start it off. Head on down to W North Street, just almost across the street from St Rita’s and make your way to Pappy’s and party out with the area’s number one party band, The Indoorfins. Every show is different and every show is just way too much fun. Come on out and see what everyone else has known for over 20 years. The Indoorfins at Pappy’s Wednesday night.
I mentioned this last week and I wanted to give you an update. Coming up Friday December 13 at Harry’s Hideaway, Blackbird Promotions is presenting “TWISTED TOYLAND”. Embracing the seasonal vibe, “TWISTED TOYLAND” is a benefit to raise $ to spread the Christmas cheer to the kids at Safe Harbor and to help out ACCS Adopt A Family program. “BIOGENISIS”from Dayton will be the headliner and the list of supporting acts is equally impressive. Our Final Prayer,Life Within,Approaching Insanity,Gracious Sin and Let It Go will be hitting the stage and rocking your world prior to “BIOGENISIS”. “TWISTED TOYLAND” is going to be a great way for you to rock all night and give something back. Admission is only $8 but if you want to bring a new toy that will slice a piece off admission. They are kicking the doors open at 6 and if I’m not mistaken there will be cool things to keep you occupied before “TWISTED TOYLAND” kicks in with the first chord. There are also VIP packages available. Check out the “TWISTED TOYLAND” Facebook for more info. See you there.
Don’t forget coming up its Small Business Saturday so bypass all that mess at the big stores and do your shopping at the many small businesses in the area.
Speaking of small business. One of my favorites in town is one you wouldn’t think of. Its the Northview Express Laundry on W Grand. This thing is AWESOME. No more dragging quarters or bringing enough $1 for the change machine. They accept debit and credit cards, they have great drop off service for us who HATE to do laundry(or are too busy or lazy) , the prices are unbelievable and I bet it will take you HALF they amount of time. I know it does me. Check them out and tell them you read about them here.
That’s it and enough for now. Remember we can all support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that’s what I think.
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
