Over the course of the last four years I’ve had the pleasure of filling this column with stories about our tail-waggin’ big hearted ever-faithful four-legged friends. Adoption events, rescues, licensing, spaying and neutering, the fate of military dogs, places to walk…you name it, I’ve tried to cover it. Today, however, will be my last column. I’ve decided to hang up my word processor (at least here) and move along little doggies to other opportunities.
But, before I go, I’d like to emphasize what’s most important in all of this. And that distinction belongs to those who dedicate their time and efforts to the canine cause. People like the good folks at Santa Barbara County Animal Services, DAWG, C.A.R.E.4Paws, K-9 Pals, Cold Noses, Warm Hearts, the Humane Society just to name a few. They are who we celebrate and tip our hats to, for without their dedication and sacrifice, so many of our furry friends would not find their forever homes. Get the medical attention they need. Food and shelter. A rub on the head.
So a special thanks for what they do and for allowing me to provide another platform from which they can spread the word. The good word.
And a special thanks to you, the reader, for taking a moment to read this column. Hopefully, somewhere along the way I’ve added something to your day. I know it’s added something to mine.
