Paul Walker is dead at the age of 40 following a violent car accident Saturday in northern LA. TMZ was the first to report “The Fast and The Furious” star’s death. The actor’s rep confirmed the tragic news later after many wondered if it was a hoax. It occurred when Paul was “attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.” His rep added that “he was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.”
Witnesses described the car as being Paul’s, but he was said to be in the passenger’s seat.
The driver lost control of the Porsche then crashed into either a post or tree before it exploded into flames, according to TMZ.
It’s unknown what caused the terrible accident, but sources say “The Fast and The Furious” star was taking friends for a ride in his new car, a Porsche GT. It was during one of those rides the fiery wreck happened. It’s not confirmed who was actually driving the car, the report went on to reveal.
While Paul was at the charity event earlier Saturday, he was photographed with a fan who remembered him as being “extremely happy” just hours before he was killed.
The fan wrote this with a photo of him with Paul Walker after hearing of his death:
“The world lost an angel in Paul. He dedicated so much of his life to helping disadvantaged kids and people who are in need … I’m gonna do whatever I can to keep Paul’s goals for the charity alive.”
