Recently a friend of mine posted on Facebook about her frustrating experience at Apple after her brand new iPhone 5C fell two feet onto her tiled kitchen floor (she was handing it to her daughter). The screen shattered to pieces even though it had a beautiful Apple iPhone case. She was given two options: 1) take it to an independent repair shop where they could replace the screen for about $149, thus voiding the warranty, or 2) shell out the $269 to repair it at Apple. Basically it’s like buying a new iPhone all over again. So what’s the moral of the story? It’s better to invest in a rugged case (like the OtterBox Defender) that is built to withstand the normal wear and tear that an iPhone goes through in its average 12-18 month lifespan.
For many people the $50 price tag on an Otterbox Defender case is well worth the investment. It’s an insurance policy you only have to pay one time, not monthly. As it turns out the pretty case my friend purchased from Apple was not a protective case after all, it was merely decorative. She paid nearly the same for that pretty case without the protection as an Otterbox Defender case.
What’s so Great about the Otterbox Defender?
The Otterbox Defender was specifically built to withstand extreme conditions, constant handling and random accidents. Those random accidents occur more often than you might think. As an example when my daughter’s friend quickly handed an iPhone to her it fell and shattered the screen. Whose fault was it, my daughter’s or her friend’s? If only the phone was protected by an Otterbox Defender case, no one would have been wondering.
What makes an Otterbox and Otterbox?
In the case of an Otterbox Defender series, it is comprised of 3 layers of protection. First there is the polycarbonate inner layer that acts as the first level of protection. That connects to the built-in screen protector to ward against scratches and prevent shattered glass. The third layer consists of a rubber slipcover that fits snugly around the inner layer and absorbs against drops, bumps and accidental impact. If my friend or my daughter’s friend had an Otterbox they wouldn’t be taking the time out of their busy day getting their phone repaired.
What else?
With an Otterbox Defender case you have maximum protection for your iPhone.
Button covers and port doors block dust, and the cutout on the back panel nicely displays your phone’s Apple logo. The Otterbox Defender comes in eight color combos, plus a camouflage design for an extra $10. It also includes a belt clip for easy access.
Voted Best Place to Work
Besides having one of the best selling cases for the iPhone, Otterbox consistenly ranks as one of the best places to work including CNN’s “Best Place to Work” in 2012. Built upon core fundamentals, Otterbox fosters a high level of trust and creates a culture that values innovation and creativity.
If you value your iPhone then the best offense is a great Otterbox Defender. Get one before you or someone you’re handing it to drops it.
