New York’s 10th victim of the sick and dangerous knockout game is a 78-year-old Brooklyn woman who was hit on the back of the head causing her to fall to the ground. According to the New York Daily News on Nov. 29, ironically this knockout attack occurred just as a neighborhood rally was wrapping up against the sick knockout game a few streets over from this latest attack on Friday night.
Brooklyn has seen a rash of these knockout game-like attacks where a stranger is randomly picked out of a crowd and the perpetrator punches this person with the object of knocking this person out. These attacks are usually taped by someone who is with the attacker and then posted on YouTube.
While Brooklyn has seen their fair share of knockout attacks, this has become a nationwide problem as these knockout games are showing up from the east coast to the west coast. A few on the incidents have turned deadly in Syracuse, St. Louis and New Jersey where victims of this knockout game have died from their injuries.
One of the things both law enforcement and neighborhood groups are doing to combat this crime is to petition YouTube to take down the knockout videos. The many knockout videos on YouTube are doing nothing more than glorifying this crime by giving the criminals the attention they are craving when posting these clips.
No one is safe from these perpetrators as they’ve attacked men, women, the elderly and even children. The 78-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, treated and released. Her attacker is being sought after by the NYPD, who has released a surveillance camera still shot to the public in hopes that someone will recognize this person and contact NYPD.
