New York Nightlife is always an adventure it is hard to be bored in this town. On any given night, there are endless options on where to go and what to do. This past month has been no exception with Inglot cosmetics collaborating with Broadway hit show, Pippin as well as Viva Calcutta, a benefit for children living in poverty in India, along with countless other action-packed events. It is also hard to believe that it has been three years since I started with Examiner covering the best in the New York. Everything from charity events, fashion, art, food, music and most recently, makeup with theatre!
Inglot recently announced now they are the official makeup line for the actors in Pippin. At the Inglot showroom in Chelsea Market, some of the cast performed for members of the press to celebrate this exciting news. Stylists even were available to transform the everyday journalist into a Broadway star sensation to kick-off this innovative partnership. Viva Calcutta at Pier 60 was one of the most colorful, vibrant charity dinners ever! Traditional Indian cuisine was available throughout the evening beginning with the savory, delectable hors ‘oeuvres including mouth-watering vegetable samosas and extra-spicy chili-pepper pakoras, probably better than the most piping-hot jalapeño pepper to date. Dinner was served buffet-style, then for dessert, endless choices of pastries as well as some interesting fried, pasta-like consistency topped-off with saffron-infused oil. Yum.
The Viva Calcutta event also featured a silent auction where guests bid on all sorts of cool items. One of the most memorable must have been a photo of one of the most influential, life-changing persons to grace Planet Earth, the saintly, Mother Teresa. Fashion events are always a guilty pleasure and the Phoenix Keating presentation was no exception. Over in Chelsea, the Phoenix Keating Spring/Summer presentation was located in a cool, lofty showroom in the Garment District. It is nice to know that this area still promotes and produces clothing in an age where almost everything is taking place overseas. Familiar timeless designer, Etienne Aigner recently introduced the Spring/Summer 2014 collection as well. Fantastic everyday pieces with such wear ability, busy career gals are able to look professional at the office transitioning with ease to an evening look with minimal effort. Button-down dresses in rich wine Bordeaux, sleekly cut jackets, edgy, straightforward tops along with a variety of foot wear make the Etienne Aigner SS14 a must-have for women everywhere. Legendary Roseland Ballroom hosted the star-studded Project A.L.S. charity dinner. Some famous faces included: Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Paul Rudd, Gina Gershon along with many other celebs. Project A.L.S. was founded in 1998 by Jennifer Estess along with her friends and family members. This not-for-profit organization was created to treat, understand and cure ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease and closely related to Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. Another favorite must have been the Inside Edition 25th Anniversary Party. The Park Central Hotel was the perfect venue along with Inside Edition host, Deborah Norville. She gave an incredible speech to celebrate the quarter-century of Inside Edition’s time on air. Please visit: http://www.insideedition.com for more info.
