Anna Little came out of nowhere in 2010 to not only win the Republican Party nomination in the 6th Congressional District but she gave Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ6) his toughest challenge during his 20 plus year tenure in Congress. After weighing her options and her future, Little felt that since she was so close in 2010 that it was worth another shot in 2012. She would once again lock up her party’s nomination, but with President Barack Obama on the ballot and the Tea Party energy locally and nationally not as strong; Pallone won again and with a wider margin this time around.
After those two contests and electoral battles between Pallone and Little, there was certainly some talk among conservative groups in the state of having Little again try to knock Pallone out of Congress. After months of not hearing anything pertaining to whom might challenge Pallone in 2014, Little has made it official for a third run in the 6th Congressional District. She will look to use her support group, “Anna’s Army”, and the Tea Party groups in the state to power her campaign. As has been seen in the last few election cycles, conservative Super PACs will likely monitor her campaign and her challenge of Pallone and gauge if inserting outside spending into the race would be worthwhile if the race looks close.
In announcing her third run against Pallone, Little would express to her “army”;
You deserve a Congressman who will take your voice to Washington. You deserve a Representative who will challenge failed policies, cut through spin and tell the TRUTH about ‘Obamacare.’ I’m Anna Little and I want to work for YOU in Washington. You fueled our campaign to replace Frank Pallone in 2010, donating your hard earned money to fight special interests in Washington and gathering 125 people strong every Saturday to knock on over 100,000 doors. You made over 100,000 phone calls to NJ voters and marched on Frank Pallone’s home town over 200 strong, sending the message that YOU are in charge, and YOU will direct your government.
She would continue,
Together we made history in 2010 coming closest to victory in 20 years. 2014 is the rematch. Are you ready to finish the job? Please join our effort to replace Frank Pallone in Congress with a hardworking NJ business owner who understands what ‘Obamacare’ means to you and your family. Please donate whatever you can to gear up for 2014’s epic battle to take back Congressional District 6 for New Jersey families.
In her previous two challenges of Pallone she lost by 12 and 28 points respectively. It is hard to say with about a year to go, but if Little can lock up her party’s nomination again it will again be a long road and path to knock off Pallone. His district might be safer in the wake of redistricting in 2011 and some of that was seen in 2012 when the two faced off. The electorate next year will be closer to the size seen in 2010 and that will certainly help Little. At the moment, Little begins another campaign against Pallone as a major underdog.
