You know them as actresses and singers. But Lea Michele, Alicia Silverstone, Ariana Grande and Carrie Underwood are superstars in another way: They’re showing the benefits of becoming vegans. And we’ve got the skinny on how they do it here.
Lea Michele has authored a new book that includes her tips for staying in great shape. It’s called “Brunette Ambition” and offers guidance on everything from fitness to fashion. Growing up in an Italian family, she also learned the benefits of drinking wine at a very young age, according to the Huffington Post. “I’m Italian, so at the dinner table it would be like Pellegrino, a jug of soda and a huge thing of wine,” Lea said.
Alicia Silverstone has become famed as one of the most outspoken vegan actresses. She’s even authored her own guide to a plant-based diet: “The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet.” From weight loss to clearer skin, Alicia feels that a vegan diet is the way to go for a happier, healthier life.
Ariana Grande tweeted her decision to go vegan: “I’ve eaten organically since I was little and always kept meat minimal but today marks my first day as a 100% Vegan!!!! Joyous day,” she proclaimed.
And Ariana took her animal rights activism one step further. “I highly recommend all of my fans watch #Blackfish and never go to @SeaWorld again. … Beyond heartbroken #Free Tilly.” If you’re not famliar with “Blackfish,” it’s a documentary exploring why we keep intelligent creatures in captivity.
Despite coming from Nashville, Carrie Underwood is a vegan advocate as well. “I love eating and talking about food. I’ve been a vegetarian for seven years,” she told Self magazine. Then Carrie saw a friend who had gone vegan and decided to give up dairy and eggs as well.
In an interview with Rachael Ray magazine, Carrie noted that she likes healthy sweet treats at snack time. Among them: Raw Revolution bars, made with hemp protein, flaxseeds, fruit and nuts.
