In honor of the 50th anniversary of the premiere of The Jimmy Dean Show, we celebrate Rowlf’s greatest moments (and Jim Henson’s greatest performances) from commercials, industrial films, variety shows and, of course, The Muppet Show. They say every dog has his day-and this day is dedicated to the Muppets’s favorite hound dog, Rowlf. (Part of the monthly series Jim Henson’s World.)

A series of creative workshops and performances for the young and the young at heart. Master artists from La MaMa teach theatre crafts in workshops that encourage imaginative play and hands-on learning. Adapted for marionettes by Puppetworks’ Artistic Director Nicolas Coppola, Aladdin & The Wonderful Lamp is accompanied by the exotic music of Aram Khachaturian’s Gayane Ballet Suite and features spectacular effects such as the flying carpet, a vanishing castle and a ‘live’ Djinni of the lamp.

Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, one of the best-known stories ever written, comes to life with a gorgeous production featuring the March Hare, the Mock Turtle, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, and, of course, the Queen and King of Hearts, all imaginatively brought to life through a creative set design and newly recorded score, taken from period dance music. An unforgettable experience for young and old admirers of this timeless story.

Julie Taymor – Director. Disney’s Tony-winning show continues to dazzle at the Minskoff. Any child who hasn’t yet seen it must catch director Julie Taymor’s wildly imaginative puppet spectacle. A cast of 46 sings the Elton John-Tim Rice score, which tells the story of Simba, a cub destined to be king of his pride.
