Even though One Direction’s Harry Styles and BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw have publicly denied that they are having a gay romance, they gave more fuel to the rumor mill on Nov. 30, 2013, when they went out together, dressed as women in similar outfits, to Groucho nightclub in London.
Styles (who is 19) and Grimshaw (who is 29) were wearing shoulder-length blonde wigs, plaid shirts over white T-shirts, white socks and tennis shoes. They were joined by writer Gillian Orr, who was also wearing a similar outfit.
The Daily Mirror has paparazzi photos of Grimshaw and Styles in drag.
Styles and Grimshaw have known each other since 2011 but they became extremely close in the summer of 2012, when they were seen partying a lot together in London. According to several tabloids and paparazzi reports, when Styles is in London, he and Grimshaw wear each other’s clothes, and Styles often sleeps over at Grimshaw’s home. They both live in the same area (Primrose Hill) in London.
There have also been constant rumors that Styles has had a love affair with his One Direction band mate Louis Tomlinson, 21. Tomlinson has adamantly denied the rumors, and he says that his romance with University of Manchester student Eleanor Calder is real and that they are in a monogamous relationship. Tomlinson and Calder became an item in late 2011.
Tomlinson and Styles lived together for about a year after they met as contestants on “The X Factor” U.K. in 2010. They were put in One Direction with contestants Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik after they all auditioned as solo singers and were rejected as solo singers. Simon Cowell, who was One Direction’s “X Factor” mentor, signed the group to his Syco Music label after One Direction came in third place on the show. One Direction has since become the world’s biggest-selling act from “The X Factor.”
Meanwhile, Styles has continuously described himself as “single and available” when he is asked about his love life in interviews, but refuses to publicly name any women he’s been dating recently. He has a reputation for being a playboy and has been romantically linked to several women, including Grammy-winning singer Taylor Swift, model Cara Delevingne, Kimberly Stewart (one of Rod Stewart’s daughters), model Emma Ostilly, model/actress Emily Atack, former “Made in Chelsea” co-star Caggie Dunlop, singer/actress Natalie Imbruglia, photographer Sarah-Louise Colivet, singer Lily Halpern, radio DJ Lucy Horobin and “The Xtra Factor” co-host Caroline Flack.
