Things just haven’t been the same between Meredith and Cristina since their little blowup a couple episodes back. When “Thriller,” the eighth episode on “Grey’s Anatomy” aired on Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., things still weren’t any better. If anything, they were worse.
Cristina overheard Alex talking with Meredith about a Halloween party for the kids of the doctors. Cristina asked about it and Meredith stumbled over a backwards invitation to Cristina which Cristina took to mean she probably really wasn’t wanted. She attributed it to the fact that she doesn’t want kids and so now Meredith thinks she hates kids altogether.
Later, while performing surgery with Owen, Cristina gets a text from Meredith asking her to bring cupcakes if she’s coming and if she’s not, that’s okay. Cristina tries to decipher if the message means it’s okay if she’s not coming or if it’s okay that she doesn’t bring cupcakes. And if she doesn’t bring cupcakes, who will? Is there someone else Meredith has asked to bring cupcakes? Owen tells her not to overthink it and to just go to the party.
When Cristina shows up, the party is under full swing and no one hears her come in. All the parents are playing with the kids and having a good time, A good time that Cristina feels she doesn’t fit into anymore. She sets the cupcakes down and leaves without saying a word. No one saw her enter or leave.
As the parents get ready to take the kids trick or treating, Meredith sees the cupcakes and realizes Cristina must have stopped by. She looks sad for a moment but then she is whisked out the door with the group.
It is hard watching the end of these two BFFs as their relationship changes and they grow in different directions. Tune in next week to find out if Cristina and Meredith mend their fences or if the awkwardness continues on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Check back here often for more updates, recaps and spoilers as they become available.
