Google Glass is still available by invitation only to a select group of developers, geeks and pioneers, but now Google has invited all subscribers to its streaming music service, All Access, to order Glass for $1,500. All Access support on Glass was recently established with the release of Glass Explorer 2, an app called Play Music and a firmware update. The music service is said to work seamlessly with Glass.
The most successful tech company in the world sent the following message to an unknown number of All Access customers. “With the launch of Google Play Music on Google Glass, we’ve secured VIP invitations for All Access customers to join the Glass Explorer Program.” The invitations may be part of a marketing campaign to boost consumer interest in both Glass and its unlimited streaming All Access platform.
Google’s streaming music service was designed to compete with Pandora, Rhapsody and Spotify. But unlike those other companies, the search giant can use data in more innovative ways that offer customers more services and products and a better mobile experience. It is not clear when the first emails were sent to subscribers of its unlimited music streaming platform, but each All Access customer should have received the Glass invite by now. The eyewearable device is slated to be launched for all consumers sometime in 2014.
