Filet Mignon Sandwiches, Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad and for dessert, Carrot Cake with Pineapple Cream Cheese Frosting and to top it off, Celebration Manhattans. When Nancy found David on the golf course, he promised that after dinner, he would have a surprise for her.
So as Nancy prepared the big meal, using all fresh ingredients, she gave viewers the scoop on how she met David. It was ironic that he was playing golf on their 16th anniversary, because she met him on the golf course. She was a caterer at the time, and getting ready to build a facility. Having three friends on the board of directors of the local golf course, they told her not to bother building, but least the Columbia Golf and Country Club, who were looking for a caterer. Although they wanted her to interview, against her will she agreed, because the other board member, David Ginsberg was someone she did not know. When she laid eyes on David, she does not even remember what happened; however, the rest is history.
After the carrot cake was in the oven and the cream cheese frosting was completed, she started making the Brussels sprouts and kale salad. She shredded the sprouts, popped in the kale, shallots and garlic all into the processor and proceeded to make the dressing. As she prepared the food, she described their wedding in St. Martin, where she and David eloped. As the flavors of the dressing were mixed with the veggies, she put it in the refrigerator to let it marinate. While the salad was marinating, she iced the carrot cake.
When David returned, he was not out golfing, as she thought. Out in the yard was a hot-air balloon, waiting for the two to have their anniversary dinner. So they went back to pack the picnic basket for their trip. Nancy prepared the filet mignon in merlot with a drop of truffle oil, and David warmed up the rolls for the sandwiches. David then made a Manhattan for each of them to drink before their trip. Nancy told fans that she was blessed to have David as her husband; he loves to eat, and they make an awesome pair. As they celebrated their anniversary, they got to see the fall colors on the trees below and profess their love for each other. What a great way to celebrate an anniversary on this episode of Farmhouse Rules.
