Even though the weather outside just flipped to frightful, it is heart-warming to know that the Executive Golf Champions League presented by Pure Lab Vitamins has kicked off its indoor season.
The league’s members play Tuesday mornings and look forward to meeting and greeting new players who join them at Golf-O-Max starting each week (except Dec. 24 and Dec. 31) at 9 a.m. The league runs until the end of March.
“The EG Champions League is open to men and women, 50 years of age or over, of all skill levels,” said Andy Rajhathy, vice-president of Executive Golf, the virtual golf club that conducts the league. “If EG members and non-members are interested in checking it out and have never played an indoor event with us, then the first one is on the house.
“We welcome golfers of all calibres, from beginners to pros, who have a love of the game and a desire to compete with others on a level course in a fun and positive setting.”
The EG Champions League goes with a modified handicap system to help in the pairing and grouping of players, appropriate tee boxes to match each player’s skill level and a variety of formats from week to week.
The variety of formats used includes match play, best ball, scramble, Stableford, handicap and others.
There are no league fees. It’s a pay-as-you-play deal with fees being $23 for EG members and $28 for non-members and guests.
Golf-O-Max is located at 1050 Baxter Rd. behind the Ottawa Citizen building.
