Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that means manufacturers are rolling out their festive offerings. Of course, gluten-free products have a place in the merriment too, so get ready for popcorn, candy, chips, cookies, and other sweets to make an appearance on store shelves near you.
The following list is sure to satisfy those sweet cravings:
Angie’s Kettle Corn – has two Valentine’s Day themed popcorn treats available only at Target stores. These treats are available in individual-sized bags perfect for sending into school for snacks and they come in two flavors: Vanilla Cupcakes and Tutti Fruity. Each flavor is vegan, Non-GMO verified, and naturally flavored.
Annie’s Homegrown – has turned their Bunny Fruit Snacks into Valentine’s Day treats. Each box contains 18 pouches of fruit snacks that have space to write ‘to’ and ‘from’. In addition to being gluten free, the snacks are also nut free, vegan, organic, Non-GMO verified and they are made with real fruit juice and not artificially flavored. What a great way to deliver a sweet treat to the friends in your life.
Divvies – has a nice selection of gluten-free Valentine’s candy: Two Chocolate Hearts, Crispy Rice Heart, and their newest offering of Hearts 4 U gummies. All of Divvies products can be purchased online and they are made in an allergen-free environment.
Food Should Taste Good – although this isn’t a new chip for the company, Valentine’s Day is a great time to pick up a bag of their chocolate tortilla chips. Try crumbling them over ice cream, or dipping them in caramel sauce for a special sweet treat.
Hail Merry – offers chocolate and strawberry macaroons along with their chocolate and chocolate mint Miracle Tarts. These products are so darn tasty/filling you forget you are eating a raw, healthy dessert.
Peeps – has a whole range of Valentine’s themed marshmallow shapes that should already be on grocery store shelves. Peeps are great by themselves, but they also make great cupcake toppers. Their website offers a number of recipes that incorporate their marshmallow sweetness.
Sprinkles Cupcakes – makes gluten-free red velvet cupcakes, which would make a great gift for a gluten-free Valentine. The cupcakes do contain dairy and eggs. More information on these cupcakes can be found here.
Surf Sweets – has created a large bag of their Fruity Hearts. These heart-shaped fruity treats are also free of nuts, organic, Non-GMO verified, and they are flavored with organic fruit juice.
Tate’s Bake Shop – has a lovely selection of gluten-free cookies and brownies and they offer gift baskets too. They offer gluten-free chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, and ginger zinger cookies. Their brownies and blondies are pretty spectacular too.
Of course if you would rather bake your Valentine’s Day treats, I highly recommend keeping it simple by melting chocolate (we use Enjoy Life Foods’ chips) and dipping marshmallows, strawberries, and pretzels. We also like to make roll and cut sugar cookies, brownies, and chocolate cupcakes with Nutella frosting. Maybe this year I will use the Pillsbury chocolate chip cookie dough to make heart-shaped cookies.
