Bags of body parts being deposited beside a frozen Michigan road have prompted a police investigation into what appears to be a homicide, St. Clair County officials say. The Inquisitr reported Jan. 31 that a middle-aged woman was seen dumping garbage bags Thursday and driving away. Now, the search is on for the mysterious woman as police try to identify the body found in the bags.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, there were several witnesses to the dumping itself. But the first witness to approach the bags, which were tossed along Allington Road in St. Clair, Michigan, didn’t find unwanted trash or household discards to clean up. Instead, they discovered that the garbage bags held human remains.
But those bags of body parts weren’t the only ones found. Another bag was found on nearby Fred Moore Highway.
Worse, some of the body parts had slipped from the bags and lay strewn alongside the road in the snow. A day after the discovery, Michigan State Police Crime Lab personnel were still counting and tagging the various body parts, which up to that point included at least one human head and torso.
It was at first unclear if the body parts belong to more than one individual.
It was also the beginning of a mystery that reads every bit like the opening pages of a Stephen King novel…
But on Saturday, the Detroit Free Press reported that the body parts belonged to a white male.
“We can say it is a white male, but that’s pretty much all we’re going on at this point.” Donnellon said. “We are tracking down leads on missing people.”
As of Saturday, bags of evidence had been recovered from four different sites along Michigan roads in St. Clair. One bag contained no human remains. However, the sheriff’s office reported in a statement, there was clothing and charred paperwork inside, items believed to have a connection to the other bags.
And yet, authorities aren’t without leads. Witnesses were able to not only get a look at the woman who tossed the bags of body parts but also were able to describe the vehicle that she was driving. The unknown depositor is being described only as a heavyset middle-aged woman. Her vehicle is described as a gray or tan late 90′s model SUV, most likely a GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Trailblazer.
St. Clair is a small city located on the St. Clair River (which is also the border with Canada) just over 50 miles northeast of Detroit.
