As fans eagerly await the return of Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Paramount is getting ready to release the all-new Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy: The “Rich Mahogany” Edition Blu-ray.
If for some strange reason you have never seen the original classic the film follows San Diego’s top-rated anchorman whose free-willing sexism alongside his news team crew are put to the test when an ambitious female reporter arrives and threatens everything they know about the industry. The film featured and awesome cast including Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate along with numerous others that were lesser known then, but are recognizable faces today. At this point most people that have any interest in seeing this film have seen it and no doubt have been sucked into the ridiculous brilliance of it. From the costumes to the vast amount of quotable lines Anchorman remains one of Ferrell’s best comedies to date and one that could have easily fallen apart fast. Thankfully the strong cast was there to back him up to create one of the most memorable and probably only news team in film to date. This collection features both the theatrical and unrated version of the film which plays the norm with the unrated churning out a few new racy gags to keep fans laughing. The third film in this collection, Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie, is a whole other beast. Fans that never got a chance to check it out will be in for a treat as it was created from an abandoned plot and used the original film as well as numerous cut scenes to create an entirely different take. This version not only takes you on a new journey with the Channel 4 News Team, but also features appearances by Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler and Public Enemies front man Chuck D.
While getting all of these films together are already enough of a reason to grab this “Mahogany Edition” it also feature hours of ultra-classy bonus material including bloopers, table reads, cast auditions, deleted and extended scenes, filmmaker and cast commentary, celebrity interviews, the recording session as well as a hilariously uncomfortable music video for “Afternoon Delight” and much, much more. While all of these awesome additions to the film make this the greatest thing to come across the news desk it also includes a copy Ron’s 32 page personal diary “The Many Months of Burgundy” and a set of 12 trading cards that are a must have for any fan of the Channel 4 news team.
Be sure to grab your copy of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy: The “Rich Mahogany” Edition when it hits Blu-ray on December 3rd and be sure to check out Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues when it hits theaters on December 20th.
